Kris Taylor

Kris Taylor LOVES to dance! Her passion for dance and movement led her to develop Deep Dance Experience (DDX).
Prior to founding the DDX program, Kris studied intensely for several years with a teacher of the Diamond Heart and Mind Study. The focus of this series is to orient and guide those individuals who are engaged in the difficult process of essential realization.
Combining her knowledge of emotional connectivity with her joy in the freedom of dance, Kris created the foundation of Deep Dance Experience. She realized this was an opportunity for her and her students to reach new levels in exercise.
Kris considers herself a Dance Coach. Her ability to inspire non-choreographed, free-form dance to carefully selected music is truly an experience like no other in group fitness settings for dancers and non-dancers alike.
Before MUUV, Kris taught for four years at the downtown Boise YMCA leading groups averaging more than 50 students. She was also active in fundraising for the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign and has led DDX classes for children of all ages, from elementary through high school.
Her enthusiasm is so contagious that in 2005 she was selected to dance alongside Prince, who was performing in concert at Key arena in Seattle in front of 17,500 people! She’ll tell you it is one of the greatest highlights of her career!
Kris lives in Boise with her husband of 20 years. Together, they love raising their two children. When she isn’t dancing, you will find her working alongside her husband in the real estate industry, hiking the Boise front with her girlfriends or spending time hanging out with her family.
Kris teaches her Deep Dance Experience every Tuesday and Thursday at 10 a.m. and the second and fourth Monday of each month at 6 p.m.

Jenny Lewis

Movement in all its forms—physical, psychological, and spiritual—has been the focus of Jenny's classes for over 25 years. Although Jenny currently spends most of her time teaching yoga and Pilates Reformer classes, she still gets a thrill from leaping off her step while teaching aerobics.
Having studied with many amazing Yoga masters, Jenny's practice is deeply influenced by John Friend, the founder of Anusara Yoga. She has participated in countless workshops with John and many of his most Senior Anusara Certified Instructors at various sites around the country. Jenny knows from experience that the Universal Principles of Alignment resonate with almost every "body," and she regularly sees these principles at work in her students as they are empowered by the Yogic process.
Connection to her students brings Jenny great joy and satisfaction, for it is in this connection that her success, and more importantly the success of her students, is measured and manifested. As she comes to learn their histories and know their bodies; as she watches their faces when they connect to and understand the movement she's teaching; their strength and potential motivate her to do more, learn more, and be more.
It was a privilege for Jenny to be named as one of lululemon's ambassadors this year. Not only does she derive inspiration from their manifesto but she simply adores their clothing and how she feels when she's wearing lululemon.
Faith and family are the cornerstones of Jenny's life. She has been married to her husband for 23 years and has three beautiful children, ages 20, 16, and 10; all of whom bring light to her life every day. As a family they enjoy time on their boat, skiing, watching movies, and time at the ocean.
Jenny Teaches her Vinyasa Flow-Yoga every Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and the first and third Saturday of every month at 8:30 p.m.

Rachel Teannalach

Using the alignment and heart-opening focus of Anusara yoga as a
foundation, Rachel distills what she has experienced as the most
effective tools from a wide range of yoga styles. She draws from 8
years of experience in yoga therapy, bodywork, and teaching public
classes and workshops. Originally from northern New Mexico, Rachel
moved to Boise from the San Francisco Bay Area in 2009. She first
began practicing yoga in 1999 as a natural transition from a
background in gymnastics. As a fine art painter, Rachel approaches
her classes creatively, with a belief in the capacity of the yoga
practice to celebrate and reveal one's unique beauty.
Her primary teachers through a decade of study have been John Friend, Sianna Sherman, and Noah Maze. She has over 700 hours of Anusara Yoga training, including extensive therapeutic experience. Rachel’s work in therapeutic movement is informed by training with bodyworker Deane Juhan (author of Job’s Body), as well as Kim Holmes and Jean Claude West in Marin County. Her teaching is fun, approachable and enlivening, with a focus on helping each student find optimal functional alignment in body and spirit. Rachel is also available for private yoga sessions.

Debbi Murphy PhD, ERYT 500 Shanti Yoga School Director

Intrigued by the Mind-Body connection early in life, Debbi studied both psychology & exercise science during the seventies at the University of Missouri. She combined these interests in her doctoral program; for her dissertation, she explored how the stages of behavior change affect exercise adherence in a variety of different populations. During this time, she taught psychology at Stephens College and exercise physiology at the University of Missouri. She represented the University of Missouri Medical Center on a weekly television spot as the community's "fitness expert". Believing there was still a piece missing, she also pursued the study of yoga with master teachers such as John Friend, Richard Freeman, Rodney Yee, Judith Lasater, Shiva Rea and Seane Corn but felt she had truly "come home" when she took her teacher training from Erich Schiffmann. Compelled to create a space dedicated to "finding peace within", Debbi created Shanti Yoga Studio & School in 2001. Shanti hosts weekly classes, monthly workshops & advanced study/teacher training workshops. Their Teacher Training program developed out of hundreds of hours of study &practice and emphasizes the transformative power of yoga. Through personal experience and from teaching for the past 20 years, Debbi believes this power not only changes the person, but allows the practitioner to impact the evolving, dynamic art & science of yoga. She continues to attend advanced teacher trainings and workshops with master teachers, but feels her greatest influences are her students. Although she teaches a variety of classes, all grounded in sound biomechanics and mind-body-spirit integration, her favorite style is vinyasa.
Jole Voulelis

Jole Voulelis was raised in Southern Idaho, spending her winters on the ski slopes and summers white water rafting. She has always love to dance, and it became a major part of her life while in high school, after receiving a scholarship to study with Ballet West at the University of Utah.
Jole attended college at the Cornish Institute of Fine Arts in Seattle, where she received a BFA in Modern Dance and Ballet. Following college, she returned to Boise and taught dance at many studios and then started a school of her own in Eagle. She was then hired as an dance instructor at Boise State University which led to becoming the director of the BSU Dance Theater. While at Boise State she also produced dance concerts and choreographed musicals for the Theater Arts Department. Jolie enjoys creating personal dance projects, and has developed and choreographed original children storybook ballets.
Jole and her husband have a 20 year old and a 17 year old who have been Jole's full time job. After volunteering to teach dance and creative movement in the schools for many years, Jole plans to return to teaching exactly what she wants, restorative dance for adults at MUUV.

Angie Garrett

Angie Garrett has always loved anything to do with health and fitness. After graduating from the University of Oregon with a degree in Science, she moved to San Francisco to work for Americorps, a national volunteer program. While there, she realized she needed a workout that would help her leave the stresses of work behind, and began taking classes from S Factor, a pole dancing/fitness studio. Almost immediately, she fell in love with the movement, and how the classes made her feel. She continued to study and practice the S Factor program for 3 years. Angie moved back to the Boise area in 2008, and is now teaching Pole Fit classes at MUUV, where she is delighted to have the opportunity to inspire other women to learn and move in an innovative way. Angie is also the showroom manager for lululemon athletica in downtown Boise.
